Cultural Enrichment Trip - 2nd-6th April 2002
to Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou

What a thrilling enrichment trip! 30 students from F.1-6, accompanied by 4 teachers and 2 alumnae, spent 4 exciting days of their Easter holidays in three famous cities in eastern China.

In Shanghai, they spent 2 days taking classes with the students of the Shanghai No.3 School for Girls and learning to sing a folksong in Shanghai dialect. They successfully carved some panda seals in a lesson while listening to information about Chinese calligraphy.

In Suzhou, they visited the Innovation Support Centre to learn about government free support for the implementation of creative ideas brought home by students after their overseas studies. And, in Hangzhou, they were received by the General Manager of Motorola, given an overall picture of how Motorola was run and led through their plant to witness a production line at work.

On top of all these, they visited the exciting new Putong in Shanghai, the exquisitely neat Suchou with its whitewashed houses capped with black roofs reminiscent of the hats of ancient mandarins at court, and of course the misty and romantic West Lake in Hangzhou.
