1Our  school  believes  that  a  third  language  means developing students’ language capacity and creating more  opportunities  for  them  to  interact with people from different parts of the world . In view of this , we have been organising after-school German and Spanish courses since 2006.

In 2009 ,  we were selected to be one of the 1,000 schools worldwide for the project “Schools: Partners for the future”. The programme has been launched in response to an initiative by the German Foreign Minister ,   Frank-Walter Steinmeier . German is offered to highly motivated students with strong language abilities. We aim at preparing  students  for  internationally-recognised  German language examinations such as the Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Fit in Deutsch 1 exam , the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in German or the Hong Kong Diploma of Education (HKDSE)  – Other Languages (German) . The course  offers  students  with  more  diversity  in  language  education and enables students to understand German  culture  and  to  communicate  in  German  in  everyday  life  .   Scholarships  of  a  three - week youth  summer  course  in  Germany  are  to  be  given to qualified learners . This is surely one great step to help students establish international contacts with other young people and walk towards global learning.

German_Corner_1To facilitate students’ learning in third languages , a German corner is also established in SALC 2 providing them with modern multi-media learning materials and German reference books. Spanish learning resources are available in the school library.
